I'm Sean Clanchy.

My story

I have an 'unusual' background spanning a variety of industries, experiences and interests - building skills and expertise that have lead me to my passions, my present role, and my responsibilities today.

I have been a procurement officer in the Australian coal mining industry with a monthly consumables budget of $40m. In this role I learned a lot about the importance of reliable logistics, inventory management and the value of time. For one key piece of machinery, each hour of down time was worth c.$40,000 in lost revenue. 

​

I have been a salesman in a billion dollar advertising corporation - solution selling to businesses of all shapes and sizes, uncovering scope, rationalising ROI and coming to realise that, "it's not my budget to spend". Here I learned the importance of sticking to a process, giving honest and fair opinions based on client input, and to quote an old colleague, "you have two ears and one mouth, use them in that order." I may not always be the best active listener but holy dooley, when I am in the zone, I can help my clients move mountains.

I am an entrepreneur​. Launching an ecommerce brand and a new agency location on opposing sides of the planet, working it out as I go. This has (and still is) teaching me problem solving skills, the value of empathy, the importance of clear communication, and has at times, thoroughly checked my ego. I have identified that I have many shortcomings as a leader but, I'm doing my best to address them. 

​

And lastly, I am a dad. This has been the most rewarding (and hardest) job of all. But it has taught (and continues to teach) me that I cannot control everything. It continues to test and build my patience and resilience, seemingly in equal measure. But, when I come home from the hardest day at the office - one chuckle is all it takes to put my priorities in order again.
